GEORGE LOIS

“HELLO? EDWARDS & H-H-HANLY?”

To make a totally unknown stockbroker famous and sell the hoi polloi in town, the tough-talking New Journalist Jimmy Breslin, in a 10-second TV spot, confidently states: The stock market used to intimidate me. But these days I’ve got no compunction about picking up the phone and calling Edwards & Hanly. Then the literary celeb from Queens brings the phone to his ear, looks dead into it, and stammers out his hidden fears: Hello? Edwards & H-H-Hanly? We cut to a logo and a voiceover announcer says: Edwards & Hanly, the brokers you’ve waited for.
